Another Chance

Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds
~Gautama Siddharta~

Another Chance

Guided by circumstance
Facing the consequence
Sifting through the ashes of
The fires of my own self destruction

Stumbling into love, buried in hate
Seeking solace in numbness
A place in which neither
Could find its roots in my soul

High hopes, lost dreams
Good intentions
Shattered and scattered
Irretrievable in the wind

Broken promises, spoken confessions
Penance, amends, forgiveness, direction, concession
Through blood and tears and fear and shame
Surviving the unsurvivable

Laughing and crying and screaming
Burning in this fire
Cold, shaking
Opening, breaking

Waking...

Another chance to try again

  1. Nice poem, my friend. Reading this tonight has inspired me to share my own freedom with you: 112 days without gambling. Same devil, different uniform.

As several have sung, "We are each other's angels, and we meet when it is time." As far as 2,000 miles and as close as a warm thought, I feel blessed to have known you these past three (wow!) years.

    Carry on.

  2. Thanks, Nicole - and congratulations on your 112 days :) Indeed, the devil wears many disguises but, when unmasked, I usually find that there was never a devil at all and that it was myself that I was battling all along. I am so grateful for the angels, guides, teachers, and friends that the universe has blessed me with along this journey and hope that I can thank you all in person one day. I feel so much warmth and presence from my friends both near and far...and I always hope that my efforts to reflect it back bring peace to someone, somewhere, each and every day.
